AEW Dynamite ranks third on cable, viewership increase from ‘Winter is Coming’

AEW Dynamite’s Holiday Bash ranked third on cable on Wednesday and topped last week’s viewership.

The December 21^st episode from San Antonio averaged 957,000 viewers and approximately 396,000 (0.30) in the 18-49 demographic, per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

The viewership average was up 1% from Winter is Coming last week and was the most-watched episode of Dynamite since October 26^th.

Dynamite ranked third among cable originals behind the Michigan vs. North Carolina college basketball game which did 1.32 million viewers and 0.37 in 18-49, and the Kentucky vs. South Alabama college football game which averaged 1.20 million and 0.31 with both airing on ESPN. Dynamite ranked second for the night among adults 18-34, males 12-34, and adults 25-54 ahead of college football.

The 18-49 audience fell by 13% with the male audience declining by 13% and offsetting the 6% uptick among females in the demo. This week’s audience among women in the 18-49 was Dynamite’s highest since November 9^th.

The female audience also performed well in the 18-34 demo with a 22% increase from last week and it’s highest in that category since October 12^th. Overall, the 18-34 demo was up 4% from last week with men in the demo down 3% from last week.

Among adults 35-49, the audience was down by 15% with males falling by 20% and females decreasing 3% this week.

There was also growth among adults 50+ with the rating going from 0.41 last week to 0.43.

In Canada, Dynamite’s English language audience on TSN 2 was approximately 66,000 viewers and 34,000 in the 25-54 demographic and didn’t finish among the top ten sports programs on Wednesday. Dynamite was ahead of NXT in the demo this week, but NXT did a much higher audience on Sportsnet 360 with 82,000 viewers.

Dynamite’s final episode of the year takes place from Broomfield, Colorado next week with Match #6 in the best-of-seven series between Death Triangle and The Elite in a Falls Count Anywhere match, plus Samoa Joe vs. Wardlow for the TNT Championship, and Bryan Danielson vs. Ethan Page.
