Nakamura chats his return to NOAH.
The start of 2023 for Pro Wrestling NOAH kicked off with their ‘The New Year’ event. Among the matches on the show was the main event that saw WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura defeat Great Muta (Keiji Muto).
There were a total of 9,500 people inside the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo to see the show. Several days removed from the match, Nakamura gave comments to Tokyo Sports about the bout.
He stated that he woke up and thought it was a dream. He’s glad he was able to show himself to the world from the moment he entered the ring to the moment he left.
I guess the best way to describe it is that it was really my first dream. When I woke up this morning, I was horrified and thought, maybe it really was a dream… I haven’t had a match yet, have I? I was horrified. I was really able to expose myself to the world, from the moment I entered the ring to the moment I left.
The two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion shared that he received words of encouragement from WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque. Levesque sent his congratulations and told Nakamura he’s glad he was able get what he wanted.
As far as what’s next for Shinsuke, he stated that Keiji Muto/Great Muta has entered his blood as a wrestler and he wants to take what he’s feeling with him going forward.
For sure, Keiji Muto and The Great Muta have entered my blood as a wrestler. I would like to incorporate what I feel in my body into my own style.
Although Shinsuke feels the story with Muto is over, he’ll be paying attention as Muto is on the road to his retirement match at the Tokyo Dome on February 21st.
In my mind, the story with Keiji Muto is already over. But I’m sure Keiji Muto will show us something from there, so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll be watching from across the ocean.
Keiji Muto will be competing at Wrestle Kingdom 17 on January 4th. Nakamura stated that he was not approached about attending the event.
