NXT hits three-week high in demo following two weeks of taped shows

NXT’s first live episode in three weeks saw the show hit a three-week high in the key demo while airing college basketball.

The January 3rd episode averaged 653,000 viewers and approximately 209,000 (0.16) in the 18-49 demographic with the show ranking #31 among cable originals. (Data: Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily).

The overall viewership figure was up 11% from last week’s taped episode but lower than the 12/20 edition, which was also a taped show.

In the 18-49 demographic, the show increased 33% this week and was its largest audience in the demo since 12/13, which was the last time the show aired live. Female viewership in the demo was up by 34% and its highest mark since 11/15. Males in the demo increased by 18% this week.

Adults 18-34 grew by 22% and in the 35-49 demo, the audience improved by 41% and equaled the amount they averaged on 11/15 in that category.

The show also experienced a 6% uptick among adults 50+.

NXT aired against the LSU vs. Kentucky college basketball game, which was #1 on cable with 1.14 million viewers and 0.29 in the 18-49 demo along with the game between Kansas and Texas Tech on ESPN 2, which averaged 659,000 and 0.20 respectively.

NXT was headlined by Bron Breakker appearing on the Grayson Waller Effect to promote their title match for New Year’s Evil next week and included a seven-minute overrun segment on the USA Network.

In Canada, NXT averaged approximately 44,000 viewers and 18,000 in the 25-54 demographic on Sportsnet 360 and did not rank among the top ten sports broadcasts on Tuesday.
