An update on the MLW-WWE lawsuit.

To start off 2022, Major League Wrestling launched an antitrust lawsuit against WWE. Their suit against the sports-entertainment company is based on WWE’s alleged attempt to undermine competition and monopolize the professional wrestling market by interfering in MLW’s contracts and business prospects.

Per an update from PWInsider, WWE filed a motion on January 5th with the United States District Court, Northern District of California and they are seeking a protective order. This order would suspend WWE’s obligation to find and produce materials that MLW requests concerning the suit.

WWE is arguing that the process of going through all of the documents MLW requests could cost them millions of dollars and if the lawsuit is dismissed, that amount of money will have been used for no reason.

The site added that WWE is also arguing that the Court should grant their request because it is uncertain as to whether they hold jurisdiction over the case and until that is decided, discovery should be suspended.
