Charlotte Flair has claimed she did not know about her surprise title win on SmackDown and needed her cleaner to bring her ring gear to the arena.

Flair made her return to WWE on the 30th December edition of SmackDown after an absence of around seven months.

Her previous appearance was at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8th 2022, when she lost the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Ronda Rousey.

She told Ryan Satin on the Out of Character podcast:

I didn’t find out I was winning the title until I got there. I didn’t have gear with me. My amazing cleaning lady brought me my gear.

I should have known better — I’m coming to a wrestling show, and I just brought my outfit. I thought it was just going to be a walkout surprise because I had been gone for so long, I really didn’t need there to be any major fireworks.

But when I got there, they were like, “You need your gear”. I got the call at maybe 5-ish [pm] that I needed gear, right before I got to the arena. She got to the arena around 7 or 7.15 [pm].

On the episode, Flair won the title from Ronda Rousey right after a successful defense against Raquel Rodriguez.

She also confirmed during the podcast that part of her absence was due to a series of dental procedures.
