Dirty Dango shares that Brian Myers was who contacted him about being mystery opponent at IMPACT Bound For Glory

At IMPACT Wrestling Bound For Glory, Dirty Dango made his return to the company and it was Brian Myers who played middle man

Brian Myers was the middle man for Dirty Dango getting to IMPACT.

Last October on IMPACT Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pre-show, then-Digital Media Champion Brian Myers hosted an open challenge and answering the call was Dirty Dango. Myers successfully retained the title.

Dango discussed how that appearance came to be while on episode #169 of Cultaholic’s Desert Island Graps podcast. He shared that it was Myers who contacted him about coming in and being the challenger to the title and that match led to him being offered a contract from IMPACT

You know, life and wrestling are really funny man. When Curt Hawkins, Brian Majors, Brian Myers was doing a dancing gimmick in WWE years ago, he picked me to be his tag team partner and they actually picked me to be the ‘Fandango’ character and then Myers came up to me about six months ago and he asked, ‘Hey, are you signed anywhere?’ I said, ‘No’ and then he goes, ‘What about coming in and doing Bound For Glory as a surprise opponent for me?’ And I said, ‘Sure’ and I did the match and they liked the ‘dirtiness’ they saw I guess and they offered me a contract. I got a lot of friends over there at IMPACT so, it was not too nerve wracking walking into the locker room, you know? Because most of the guys there and girls, I’ve known for years and shared locker rooms with so, yeah, Myers and I are intertwined, our careers for years so it’s kind of cool. I guess you’d say he was my in so it’s pretty nice for him to do that. Lot of respect, lot of respect… Yeah, he’s the best.

Bound For Glory was not Dango’s first go-round in the company as he competed in dark and Xplosion matches in 2003 and 2004.

He recounted an interaction he had with the late Jerry Jarrett and Jarrett was asked about the idea of Dango joining the roster at the time as a babyface. Jarrett felt TNA had enough babyfaces.

I remember in 2003, I used to — Bill Behrens hooked me up. I was working for NWA Wildside in Cornelia, Georgia. Kenn Doane and myself, Kenny Dykstra, I don’t think he was old enough to drive. We would drive from Boston to Georgia and Bill, you know, he was kind of the liaison, medium into TNA at the time and he said, ‘Why don’t you come to the Nashville Fairgrounds’ at the time and, ‘Do a dark or Xplosion match.’ I said, ‘Hell yeah.’ I will drive 14 hours for free and come down and do monthly dark matches so, to your question, no, there was a time, Bert Prentice, God rest his soul, was there and he brought me up to Jerry Jarrett and goes, ‘What about this kid for a babyface here?’ I think I was 18 or 19 and Jerry looked at me and said, ‘No. We got enough babyfaces’ so, that was (my) only shot at getting a contract there I guess but yeah, I did a few dark matches there from 2003, 2004 and then I think 2005 or ‘6, I ended up going to Deep South Wrestling but, it was fun man. It was my first real TV experience as a kid coming up so, yeah, it was great.

On the most recent episode of IMPACT on AXS, Myers defeated Dango to secure his spot in a number one contenders four-way match at No Surrender.
