Comments from both Billy Gunn and Paul Wight.
Among the veterans that AEW has on their talent roster or helping in different areas within the company are Billy Gunn and Paul Wight.
Gunn is a part of The Acclaimed presentation with Anthony Bowens and Max Caster. In addition to Wight being of assistance behind the scenes, he’s a commentator for AEW’s Dark and Dark: Elevation shows.
Speaking about what he’s currently doing on AEW TV, Gunn stated on The Mike O’Hearn Show that every time he’s on TV, the ratings go through the roof.
Gunn: Every time that I’m on — and that ain’t bragging — every time I’m on TV, our ratings go through the roof, they just do because people, they know what they’re getting when they get us.
Earlier in the conversation, Wight expressed that he feels if Billy wanted to ‘turn it on’ and make things about him, 99.9 percent of the roster would be left in the dust.
Gunn: My role is not about me anymore and I know that and I don’t have a problem with it.
Wight: He doesn’t have a problem with it and trust me, if he wanted to turn it on and make it about him, 99.9 percent of the locker room would be left in the dust… Because he can do whatever that is.
Billy has a dual contract in AEW as a talent and coach. In August of 2022, Wight got a knee replacement and he is hopeful to be back in the ring this month.
