Mercedes Moné and Jade Cargill among the topics discussed by Britt Baker.
The second and current IWGP Women’s Champion is Mercedes Moné and she captured the title at NJPW Battle in the Valley in February. It was Moné’s first sanctioned match since May 2022.
Back in January, on the lead up to a tag match on AEW Dynamite that was promoted as Britt Baker and AEW Women’s World Champion Jamie Hayter versus Saraya and a mystery partner, Baker referred to herself as ‘The Boss’ which was Mercedes’ nickname in WWE.
While speaking to the New York Post, Baker said she hopes and prays to see Moné in AEW in some capacity and would not mind being the connection to get her there.
It’s weird to see now that she’s out in the wild. She’s not completely inaccessible in a way. These are very realistic matchups that could happen and I think the world is ready to see Mercedes Moné let out of the cage. What is she gonna do now? I hope and pray that someday, we see her in some capacity in AEW. And if by chance I could be in the connection too, I would be very, very for that.
Jade Cargill is 53-0 in AEW and is the first-ever and only TBS Champion. Cargill stated in an interview that she’d like to be in the mix with the Britt Bakers, Jamie Hayters, Sarayas and those alike in AEW’s women’s division.
Baker reacted to that and feels it’s what Cargill needs but it’s going to be a bigger challenge for her. She added that Cargill is not going to bulldoze through that portion of the division.
I think it’s gonna be a whole new world for Jade because we’ve been around the block a little bit longer than some of these girls she’s wrestling and we’re very territorial and protective of our spot and our brand and the division. She’s not just going to come through and steam roll through all of us like she does some other people. It’s going to be a lot harder and bigger challenges and harder matches for her. At the same time, I think that’s exactly what Jade needs. I think we’re at a point right now where she needs to be thrown into some sink or swim environment.
