Muto thinks NOAH running the Tokyo Dome could become an annual event.

On February 21st, Keiji Muto’s final match event took place at the Tokyo Dome and he fell in defeat to Tetsuya Naito and then went on to have an impromptu match with Masahiro Chono, who Muto had his first match against in 1984.

Looking back at the match against Naito, Muto reiterated a joke to Tokyo Sports about the three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion. He said if the wrestling business goes down, Naito is to blame because he retired him. Muto then added that it’s up to Naito to make the most of the accolade.

After the match, I jokingly said that if business in the wrestling world goes down in the future, it may be because of him (Tetsuya Naito). He has the medal of honor for beating me, so it’s up to him to make the most of it or kill it. I don’t know if he’ll pretend it never happened.

He then went on to state that he believes Pro Wrestling NOAH should run the Tokyo Dome on February 21st, 2024. He thinks it could be a regular event like how New Japan Pro-Wrestling has Wrestle Kingdom each year at The Dome.

Either way, it was an event that attracted so much attention. It is his (Tetsuya Naito’s) mission to connect the two. In terms of connecting, NOAH should take the plunge and take the Tokyo Dome on February 21st next year.

Yes (it could be a regular event like NJPW Wrestle Kingdom). Then we can start thinking about how to fill the seats. It was the same when we had several dome shows a year.

Coming up on March 9th, NOAH is going to be hosting a retirement exhibition for Daisuke Harada, who has to step away from in-ring competition due to injury.
