Will Ospreay and EVIL punched their tickets to the quarterfinals of the New Japan Cup.

Monday’s card in Ehime saw United Empire stablemates Will Ospreay and Mark Davis meet in the main event with a strong performance to close the show.

Davis withstood the OsCutter and a Storm Driver before falling to the Hidden Blade and Ospreay advanced to the round of eight, which begins later this week.

It was a great performance from Davis, who shined in this singles spotlight. His Aussie Open teammate Kyle Fletcher was eliminated from the New Japan Cup over the weekend.

In other tournament action, Jeff Cobb fell to the numbers game with House of Torture’s EVIL pinning Cobb following multiple weapon strikes and a low blow from Dick Togo, Yujiro Takahashi, and SHO.

The second round concludes on Wednesday in Okayama with David Finlay facing Great O-Khan, and Zack Sabre Jr. takes on Shota Umino.

Ospreay and EVIL will meet in the next round of the tournament this Friday along with SANADA taking on Tetsuya Naito in a battle of LIJ members.

The quarterfinals are set for 3/17 and 3/18 with the semi-finals taking place next Monday and the final on 3/21 in Niigata.
