Takahashi speaks highly of Lio Rush.

The 2023 NJPW New Japan Cup final is taking place on Tuesday, March 21st. As a part of that show, Hiromu Takahashi is going to be defending the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Lio Rush.

Ahead of the match, NJPW1972.com pushed the written version of their conversation with Takahashi. He spoke highly of Lio and described him as the ‘model junior heavyweight’. Takahashi added that Rush is a real junior’s junior when it comes to the division they’re in.

I really think he’s (Lio Rush) how a junior heavyweight should be. That smaller guy with so much speed, so much ability to fly. Like, he’s the model junior heavyweight.

I don’t really wrestle a junior heavyweight style per se. I have a lot of speed, but I use quite a few power moves, and I don’t really fly that often. In that sense, Lio is a real junior’s junior.

After the New Japan Cup final concludes, POST Wrestling’s John Pollock and W.H. Park are going to be reviewing the show.
