AEW Dynamite hit a four-week with Wednesday’s show ranking fourth among cable originals featuring the “Dream Match”.
The March 22nd show from Missouri averaged 954,000 viewers and approximately 434,000 (0.33) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.
Dynamite ranked fourth among cable originals behind two NBA games and Vanderpump Rules on Bravo. Dynamite aired head-to-head with the Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks, averaging 1,797,000 viewers and 0.60 in the demo with Vanderpump Rules airing against hour two of Dynamite at 1,053,000 and 0.39.
It was the show’s most significant number in those categories since February 22 with viewership increasing 12 percent and the 18-49 audience growing 23 percent from last week.
It was AEW’s younger audience that propelled the strong performance with the 18-49 demos breaking down to a 23 percent increase among women and a 22 percent uptick among women. It was Dynamite’s largest audience among females 18-49 since January 25.
Adults 18-34 grew 41 percent from last week and was also a four-week high for that category.
Adults 35-49 increased by 12 percent while adults 50+ were identical from the previous week’s episode.
In Canada, Dynamite dropped 22 percent in viewers from last week’s huge number (the largest Canadian audience for Dynamite of our data) with this week’s show averaging approximately 158,000 viewers and 101,000 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2. This week’s viewership would still make this the second most-watched episode of Dynamite on TSN 2 since Blood & Guts on June 29, 2022.
Dynamite was advertised around the first meeting between Kenny Omega and El Hijo del Vikingo and promoted as a “dream match” over the past week. Omega and Vikingo were scheduled for a match in 2021 that never took place in AAA with Omega being forced to vacate the AAA Mega Championship and Vikingo succeeding him by winning the vacant title. The show opened with a six-man tag involving Sting, who had not wrestled on Dynamite since last March.
