ROH has officially added a Pure Championship Match to this Friday’s Supercard of Honor show.
Wheeler Yuta is set to defend the title against Katsuyori Shibata this Friday at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California, and streaming on pay-per-view.
It will be Shibata’s fifth match since returning to action after a near-fatal head injury he sustained during an April 2017 match against Kazuchika Okada. Shibata suffered a subdural hematoma after a head butt to the skull of Okada, which required emergency brain surgery.
Shibata engaged in an unadvertised grappling match with Zack Sabre Jr. at the G1 Climax Finals in October 2021 followed by a match with Ren Narita at Wrestle Kingdom 16 the following January.
Since then, he had one match in AEW last November against Orange Cassidy and a UWF rules match against Tom Lawlor in December 2022.
