The two talents met face-to-face in the ring at the Royal Rumble.

Entering the 2023 men’s Royal Rumble at the number one spot was WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER. As the match was ongoing, he went face-to-face with Brock Lesnar in a moment that the audience in attendance rose to their feet for.

GUNTHER is heading into a Triple Threat Intercontinental Title defense on night two of WrestleMania 39. To promote his upcoming match, he sat down with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport

He is still hoping to have a match with Lesnar, but thinks it’s better that it’s not happening now. He added that they both have their own thing going on at the moment and we’ll see what happens next year.

I’m hoping for the match (against Brock Lesnar) but to be honest, I think it’s better that it’s not happening now. I think that moment we had in the Royal Rumble was at least everything I needed out of it right now because on the internet, I always see things pop up. But, often, they don’t translate in real life. But just the reaction we got for that moment we had there was like a real-life confirmation for me that, okay, people, they want to see this but I got my stuff to do now and he does what he does and then let’s see what happens next year.

GUNTHER is defending the I.C. Title against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus. Brock Lesnar is going one-on-one with Omos and both matches are taking place on WrestleMania 39 night two.
