Gunther retained the WWE Intercontinental Champion after an intensely physical triple-threat match at WrestleMania Sunday.

The champion prevailed over Sheamus and Drew McIntyre in a contest that is likely to be hailed as an instant classic.

The first half of the match was dominated by hard exchanges of chops, leaving all three with welts on their chests.

The spectacle was a definite crowd-pleaser, with huge reactions and the fans being brought to their feet on several occasions.

In the closing stretch, Gunther power-bombed Sheamus onto McIntyre’s back and then gave McIntyre a power-bomb for the pin.

The announcers gave the match a standing ovation.
