Balor returned to the ring two days later as a participant in a 20-man battle royal at the live event at Madison Square Garden in his last match before WrestleMania.

In the three-week period before the match with Edge, Balor stated he rehabbed the injury and made careful planning to deal with the calf tear, which usually has a recovery time of six to eight weeks.

During the Hell in a Cell match, Balor was cut on the top of his head by a ladder that required 14 staples and a temporary halt to the match before it resumed.

It was Balor’s first match at WrestleMania since 2019.
