Nia Jax recalls matches and storylines she was involved in that shifted.
At WrestleMania 34, Nia Jax won her first title in WWE when she defeated Alexa Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship. Months prior to that happening, Jax had been involved on-screen with nZo/Real1 f.k.a. Enzo Amore.
Jax was added to the 205 Live brand’s house show tour to work with nZo. As Jax was speaking to D.S. Shin of Ring of The Belle, she shared that nZo was supposed to guest referee the Raw Women’s Title match at WrestleMania 34.
She added that Vince McMahon enjoyed the pairing of herself and nZo. In January of 2018, he was released from WWE.
Man, the nZo stuff. Oh my gosh (Jax laughed). That was so much fun. It was supposed to go up until I won the title. He was supposed to be a part of that. So he and I had that little love triangle but Lexi (Alexa Bliss) was supposed to get in on that and he was supposed to be our guest ref at Mania. I mean, supposed to, obviously, things changed but that’s where that was supposed to go. Isn’t that crazy? And then obviously, things happened, he didn’t make it that far. Vince (McMahon) loved it. That was one of his favorite storylines. I don’t know if you remember, he put me on one of the (205 Live) live events. He loved that storyline. Oh my gosh and then he was like, ‘How do you feel about kissing him?’ I’m like, ‘Huh? If we need to. If that’s where we’re going.’
Another change that occurred involving Jax was at the 2018 Survivor Series pay-per-view. She was the sole survivor for Raw’s women’s team but originally, that spot was going to be Mercedes Moné’s.
She stated that while rehearsals were taking place, a producer came to the ring and said Vince McMahon wanted the finish of the match changed to Nia being the sole survivor. Jax talked about how the crowd reacted to her coming out of the incident with Becky Lynch.
That was some change in this match (Jax said about her being the sole survivor at Survivor Series 2018). Let me tell you. I was not supposed to be the sole survivor in this match. I believe it was supposed to be Sasha (Banks). She was supposed to be the sole survivor that night and we were in rehearsals, it was before doors opened. We were in rehearsals before doors opened and the producer came out and said, ‘Vince changed it. Nia over.’ I was still trending and I mean, that crowd hated me. They went nuts when I came out and so Vince (McMahon) was like, no, Nia over. It was a cool thing but it was one of those moments where I’m like, sh*t.
This past January, Nia returned to WWE and was the 30th entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match.
