Edge appeared on Logan Paul’s podcast and confirmed the story.

Night two of WrestleMania 39 featured the Hell in a Cell match between ‘Brood’ Edge and ‘The Demon’ Finn Bálor. Before the match took place, Edge guest appeared on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast and the episode was released on 4/25.

During the chat, Edge spoke about his program with Bálor and stated that originally, the Hell in a Cell match was supposed to take place at the 2023 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. Edge added that he suggested WrestleMania because it was around the corner.

So last year, I was like, if I get to do this character again, this is what I’d like to do and again, I had pitched the idea. I was like, ‘If you got me and Bálor, we’re missing the opportunity here if we don’t do Brood versus Demon and do it in Hell in a Cell.’ So initially, it was gonna be at Royal Rumble. I was like, ‘Mania. Mania’s right around the corner. Maybe we should save it for that.’

In early February, it was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Edge versus Finn did not take place at Royal Rumble because of Edge’s acting commitments.
