The Greater Orlando Sports Commission is looking to place a bid to host WWE’s 2024 Royal Rumble event, per Orlando Business Journal

On May 2nd, the Orange County Board of County Commissioners will vote on whether they will provide $850,000 to the Greater Orlando Sports Commission so they can place the bid. It is noted in the article that hosting the Royal Rumble could bring the area nearly $70 million in economic impact, 1,900 hotel room nights and more than 40,000 attendees.

In 2016, WWE hosted the Royal Rumble at the Amway Center in Orlando. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company ran their shows out of Florida in what was dubbed the ThunderDome. They started at the Amway Center, relocated to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg and then the Yuengling Center in Tampa.

Jason Siegel, President and CEO of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission told Orlando Business Journal the following:

We have a long history of hosting major marquee WWE events in Orlando, and we are hopeful that our friends at WWE select Orlando to host Royal Rumble in 2024.

The publication reached out to executives at WWE but have not heard back.
