** K & S WrestleFest hosted a virtual signing with Jordynne Grace and Jonathan Gresham as the feature guests. Gresham was asked about his future aspirations as far as possibly working in WWE, returning to AEW or staying in IMPACT Wrestling. He said he’s letting his career take him where it may. He added that he would like to be a trainer
Gresham: I don’t know (what my future holds). I’m kind of just letting things kind of just play out, the way they are naturally just going to, you know? But to answer your question, I always wanted to be a trainer, help out with training because I think that’s where I thrive. I’m really good with younger wrestlers and explaining stuff, I believe anyway. So that’s probably something I’d wanna do.
When asked what talents from WWE would she like to face, Grace stated that she’d love to share the ring with Rhea Ripley. She feels they underwent a similar transformation.
Grace: Oh man, we (myself & Rhea Ripley) followed each other on Twitter a while ago and we like each other’s stuff a lot and I think it’d be really, really awesome (to have a match). I feel like she’s undergone kind of a similar transformation to me from when she first started in wrestling. She was kind of like a barbie doll. She had the long, blonde hair. She looked very different than she does now so, I definitely would love to wrestle her… She’s incredible.
** Joining the Juice Pro Wrestling Podcast was independent talent Australian Suicide. He recalled Angelico getting him a match on AEW Dark in 2021. He faced Sammy Guevara and before going out, he was told to show everything he’s got. Australian Suicide said Tony Khan loved the match but Chris Jericho was not too pleased about Guevara giving too much. He added that Jericho was still cool and introducing himself to the former AEW World Champion was one of the first things he did when he got backstage.
I lived with Angelico for two years. We shared an apartment and Jack (Evans) would come over every single day to just play some video games and whatnot. So I just sent him a message saying, ‘Hey dude, what the f*ck? Get me a match,’ and he’s like, ‘Okay’ and then literally like the very next day, he’s like, ‘Oh, there you go’ and it’s like the next week. F*ck yeah… This is a very funny story and I don’t know if I can tell but I don’t give a f*ck so I’ll tell it anyway. We had Sammy Guevara versus me and they said, ‘You’ve got six minutes. Show me what you’ve got’ and because I’m a great friend with Sammy, I love him to death and I told him, ‘Let’s do a Teddy Hart match.’ He’s like, ‘What does that mean?’ And I’m like, ‘Let’s just, doof, doof, doof. No story, no nothing. Let’s just go bam, bam, bam.’ So we did that and they told me, ‘Let’s see everything you got, everything that you have’ and so I’ve got six minutes in this match. I’m just gonna do everything I got.
It was cool for Sammy. He’s like, ‘Oh f*ck it. It’s just a dark match. You just do whatever you want and let’s do this.’ So we did that and then we get backstage and Tony Khan, he came up to me and was like, ‘Dude, I loved it. That was really good.’ But, in my peripheral, (Chris) Jericho was talking to Sammy… and he was like, ‘You gave him too much. You did this, you didn’t do this. It’s like, you gave him the entire match.’ It’s like, that’s what they told us to do. No, but Jericho, he was so cool. Everyone always said, ‘Don’t go up to Jericho. He’s gonna be sort of weird.’ The first thing I did — because Lance Storm trained me. He was my trainer. The first thing I f*cking did was go up to Jericho and shake his hand and just wanted to meet him.
** During a Café De René YouTube livestream, Rob Van Dam praised Montez Ford’s frog splash. He says it’s amazing and he’s taken aback when he’ll see a comment about his being better than Montez’s. RVD then joked that Ford gets high but not higher than him and held up a blunt when he said that.
Awesome (RVD said about Montez Ford’s frog splash). Yeah man, he gets up there. He gets way up there.
I’ve always been impressed with him. In fact, I’ve seen him go up there on Twitter or whatever. Sometimes I’ll see some where I’m just like, ‘Holy sh*t. Look at the height this dude got’ and then when a fan will comment, you know, ‘RVD’s is better.’ Sometimes I’m like, ‘What?’ But like I said, everything is subjective and he’s probably not as high as RVD (Van Dam held up a blunt).
** There’s an interview with Cody Rhodes on Comicbook Nation’s YouTube channel and Rhodes expressed that he wants to be the cover athlete for a WWE 2K game.
It’s a big personal goal of mine to earn my way onto the cover and I don’t know when that will happen. Hopefully within my contract time here in WWE. (John) Cena getting the nod this year is no doubt — he’s more than earned it. I think we now have even a larger appreciation for who John was and what John did for as long as he did but that’s definitely one of my goals is the cover and the true cover. Not an exclusive, not a collector’s edition, the true cover but, that’s a journey in itself. It’s a huge, huge milestone. I’ve had such respect for the game.
** To promote NJPW Wrestling Dontaku, there was a talk show held and Jushin Thunder Liger and Tomoaki Honma were the focus of a panel discussion. Liger commented on the upcoming IWGP World Heavyweight Title match between SANADA and Hiromu Takahashi. Liger wants Takahashi to become champion. He’ll be on commentary for the match and said he might cry if Hiromu wins.
Liger: I want Hiromu (Takahashi) to win (the IWGP World Heavyweight Title). He is a junior weight, has a junior belt, wins the heavyweight belt, and holds the heavyweight belt… That is probably what every junior wrestler in New Japan Pro-Wrestling is thinking. That’s what he is trying to achieve now.
I’ll be commentating, and if Hiromu wins the IWGP World Heavyweight belt, I might cry, to be honest. There hasn’t been anyone like that until now. (If he becomes the champion of two weight classes at the same time) I think the whole world will know about it. So in that sense, I want Hiromu to win. However, SANADA is not so… easy to beat. I think it will be a great match, and I promise you (that it will be that kind of match).
Hiroshi Tanahashi returned from his broken rib injury and he’ll be tagging with Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii in the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Title match. Honma shared that he was hoping to be the mystery partner tagging with Okada and Ishii.
Honma: I have always wanted to be the other ‘X’, but unfortunately, I could not fulfill my wish.
** AEW’s Anna Jay A.S. has been in several street fights in her time with the company. She discussed how much she enjoys those matches in an interview with PWMania. She also commented on the most recent one during which she suffered dislocated ribs.
The first one (AEW street fight) for sure, I definitely didn’t know what to expect but, that was one of the most fun times that I think I’ve had inside of the ring and I still think that’s one of my favorite matches to this day and yeah, it is extreme but it’s crazy. Adrenaline’s going so much, you’re just not really thinking how crazy this stuff that you’re doing is. Looking back, once again, it is crazy and to see all the blood, all the stuff that we used is crazy. Then going into the second street fight, I feel like I kind of knew what to expect at least somewhat. But, every match is different so for this one, it was a different kind of pain and I ended up dislocating my ribs which was not supposed to happen so, every one is different. Definitely two of my favorite matches. I love street fights, I love the extreme content of it but you know, it did not end up in my favor for this last one but I love both of them.
