A positive update on Takayama.

In early April, Yoshihiro Takayama was hospitalized with aspiration pneumonia. Takayama’s wife has been keeping the public updated on him via a blog on the Abema site.

She updated the blog and noted that Takayama was discharged from the hospital on May 1st.

He suffered a cervical spinal cord injury on May 4th, 2017 which paralyzed him from the neck down. When the injury occurred, he was not able to breathe on his own so a hole was made in his throat and a machine assisted with his breathing.

Doctors stated that the hole would close up on his own but it did not. Air began to leak through which made it difficult for Takayama to speak.

He underwent successful surgery to close the hole, was discharged the following day and then was brought back to the emergency room as he developed aspiration pneumonia.

On behalf of Yoshihiro, his wife thanked everyone for their continued support over the years.
