There is a new STRONG Openweight Champion.

Hikuelo defeated KENTA at New Japan’s Wrestling Dontaku event at the Fukuoka International Center, securing his first New Japan championship.

There were multiple ref bumps in the match, which led to KENTA using a kendo stick on Hikuelo and Jado, as well as landing multiple low blows on the challenger.

Hikuelo eventually caught KENTA with a powerslam and followed with a chokeslam for the victory in 9:44 to become the new champion.

Hikuleo becomes the fourth champion in the title’s lineage alongside Tom Lawlor, Fred Rosser, and KENTA and ends the latter’s reign that began this past February.

It was noted that the title win occurred on the tenth anniversary of the birth of The Bullet Club.

Karen Peterson & Bruce Lord will have an NJPW Wrestling Dontaku POST Show on Wednesday for POST Wrestling Café members.
