Olympic gold medalist Tamrya Mensah-Stock signs with WWE

WWE has signed Olympic wrestling gold medalist Tamyra Mensah-Stock.

ESPN reports that the 30-year-old reported to the WWE Performance Center this past Monday with the hope of making it to the main roster within one year.

Mensah-Stock won the gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the Olympic Games in Tokyo held in 2021 at 68 kilograms. She also won the World Championships in 2019 and 2022, was a Pan American Games gold medalist in 2019, and won the Pan-Am Championships in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Mensah-Stock joins previous gold medalists Kurt Angle and Gable Steveson that signed with WWE.

Another gold medalist to compete in pro wrestling was the late Willem Ruska, who won two gold medals at the 1972 Games in Munich. Ruska went to do pro wrestling for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
