Atsushi Onita to undergo surgery for abdominal aortic aneurysm

Onita is one-half of the AJPW All Asia Tag Team Champions. 

On May 9th, Atsushi Onita will be undergoing surgery for an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Per the Mayo Clinic, that is an enlarged area in the lower part of the body’s main artery, called the aorta. 

Dory Funk Jr., who overseas AJPW’s All Asia Tag Team Titles, wants Onita to relinquish his title that he currently holds with Yoshitatsu. Onita responded by noting that he has no intention of giving the belt up and plans to return to the ring in June. 

Onita and Yoshitatsu have been champions since February. Onita is 65 years of age and is inching close to 50 years in the wrestling business.
