Nick Aldis recalls Cody Rhodes messaging him after WWE return, said their ALL IN match helped set that journey

The 2018 ALL IN match is one that Aldis is proud of.

Later this month, Cody Rhodes is heading into his second consecutive Premium Live Event match against Brock Lesnar. Rhodes headlined this year’s WrestleMania and it was in 2022 that he made his return to WWE at WrestleMania

While on Busted Open Radio, Nick Aldis shared that he received a message from Rhodes after his return to WWE. Aldis stated that Rhodes told him their match at the 2018 ALL IN event set the journey that Cody would ultimately embark on. Aldis added that he’s proud of Rhodes.

When Cody (Rhodes) came back to WWE, he sent me a very nice message after his WrestleMania return, just sort of acknowledging that our match really sort of helped set that journey for him and I appreciated that, and I’m proud of him and I’m proud of what we did together and what I’m most proud of is the fact that he’s obviously gone on to do so much and our journeys sort of went in different directions. But to this day, every day on social media, there’s somebody saying that they’re clamoring for that third match. That’s a huge compliment and man, there’s a lot of things that you sort of think about and you go, well, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility but at the same time, you don’t wanna speak it into existence for fear of it not happening. But, crazier things have happened in the last few years of this business so again, like I was saying before, it goes to what I was saying about just sort of staying open and sticking to your principles and just being consistent with your quality and your approach and your professionalism and knowing that good things will come.

As of this writing, Aldis is working with IMPACT Wrestling. The company announced that they’ll be touring Australia this summer

Aldis said he had some influence on that happening. He is part of the Oceania Pro Wrestling group that is running a fan fest event in late 2023 in Australia.

They (IMPACT Wrestling) just announced this Australia stuff which I’m sure you know, I had a little bit of influence in making happen so it might be time to to upgrade me to the ‘International Treasure’.

Looking at the IMPACT roster, Aldis feels that when it comes to a potential box-office match, he thinks opposite of him could be Moose.

I think with the right approach and the right build and the right timing and everything like that, the person I think has the potential to be my most box-office opponent would be Moose. I think at the right time — he was always somebody who when I was watching from afar would go, ‘Man, that’s a — he’s such a stud…’ That’s the kind of story and set up and that to me is like a heavyweight main event. In the way that I like to present pro wrestling, with the build videos and the training and the sort of preparation and all that kind of thing, I think it’d be hard to look past Moose as a perfect sort of foil in that respect.

On the 5/11 IMPACT on AXS, Nick is going to be in singles competition and POST Wrestling will have coverage of the show.
