Notes from the NXT Battleground media call.

Before WWE’s NXT brand runs their Battleground Premium Live Event on Sunday, May 28th, Shawn Michaels answered questions about the brand on the pre-Battleground media call.

PWInsider took notes on the call and Michaels was asked about Grizzled Young Veterans (Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid) requesting their releases from WWE. Michaels said he wanted them to come to NXT from the UK. He wants to help everyone find success in WWE and wants them to succeed in the business overall. Michaels stated that there’s no hard feelings and he wants them in a prominent role. If Fowler and Reid want to work, he wants to use them.

Blair Davenport last wrestled for NXT at Worlds Collide in September. Michaels says there’s interest to bring her in and she has been contacted but it’s up to her if she wants to come aboard full-time or not.

Indi Hartwell was the NXT Women’s Champion when she got drafted to Monday Night Raw and was also dealing with an injury. Hartwell relinquished the title. Michaels says there were plans in place prior to the injury and call-up and he was excited to see her rise as an underdog.

The NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles were discussed. Those are currently in the possession of SmackDown’s Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre. He knows their focus is on the main roster but hopes they can come back to NXT and defend the belts.
