Overnight numbers suggest that Friday’s edition of SmackDown did a “huge rating” according to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.

Thurston tweeted on Saturday that – barring preemptions – he expected a final total viewership of between 2.53 million and 2.66 million.

Last week’s taped episode of SmackDown drew a total viewership of 2,158,000.

SmackDown was without big live sports competition from the NBA or NHL on Friday night.

The early data suggests the last 30 minutes of the broadcast, which included Roman Reigns’ 1,000-day championship celebration, saw the audience grow by 13% among viewers between the ages of 18 and 49.

Ratings projections from Wrestlenomics have been consistently accurate.

The final ratings data will be released on Monday, including key demographic data. John Pollock will have a report on the site.
