Despite a highly competitive night, AEW Dynamite scored its largest demo audience since March.
The June 7 episode from Colorado Springs averaged 903,000 viewers and 430,000 (0.33) in the 18-49 demographic to place fourth among cable originals on Wednesday night.
While overall viewership has a two percent dip from last week, the 18-49 demographic grew by 15 percent and was the show’s highest audience in the key demo since March 22.
It is impressive given that AEW was airing against Game 3 of the NBA Finals on ABC, which averaged 11.2 million viewers with Vanderpump Rules topping cable with two million viewers and 0.87 in the demo. Last week’s episode of Dynamite did not have an NBA game to contend with.
While Vanderpump Rules dominated females 18-49 among cable, Dynamite still managed to post its largest number of women in the key demo since January 18 with a 60 percent increase over last week’s low figure. Males 18-49 grew three percent from last week with Dynamite ranking second behind Vanderpump Rules with males in the demo on cable.
Adults 18-34 saw a big increase of 42 percent which was its highest in the demo since February 22.
The one significant decline was among adults 50+ which fell from a 0.42 rating last week to 0.36 and was responsible for the overall viewership decline.
In Canada, the show also saw a big boost with a 32 percent increase from last week among overall viewers with 136,700 and the 25-54 demographic grew by 55 percent with 92,400 on TSN 2. Dynamite ranked sixth among sports programs in Canada on Wednesday behind the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Houston Astros, Game 3 of the NBA Finals, and coverage of those games.
It was the most-watched episode of Dynamite in Canara since March 29. It also beat last Friday’s SmackDown and this past week’s edition of Raw in the 25-54 demo.
