WWE NXT Gold Rush week 2 notes: Loser Leaves NXT, Stacks/Tony D, Carmelo retains, Gable Steveson/Eddy Thorpe

Diamond Mine (Ivy Nile, Julius & Brutus Creed) interrupted The Schism’s segment in which the group were hashing out ongoing tension between them. Julius brought up that Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler do not want to be ‘here’, referencing the two talents going public with sharing that WWE denied their release requests. This led to Joe Gacy agreeing on Fowler and Reid’s behalf for them to take on The Creed Brothers on 7/4 in a Loser Leaves NXT match.

There was an NXT Tag Team Title match and Gallus (Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) retained over Edris Enofe and Malik Blade. Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo appeared during the match and attempted to tackle Coffey, but he ended up connecting with Enofe. ‘Stacks’ still threw Enofe into the ring to be pinned by Gallus.

Later in the show, Joe Coffey visited Tony D’Angelo in prison and played him audio of Stacks saying there’s a ‘new don’ in town and he’s done being the underboss.

Gable Steveson helped Eddy Thorpe prepare for his Raw Underground match against Damon Kemp, who is Gable Steveson’s brother. Thorpe asked Steveson to be in his corner and the Olympic Gold Medalist agreed.

In the main event, Carmelo Hayes defeated Baron Corbin to retain the NXT Championship. Corbin made his way to the ring using his old ‘Superhuman’ theme song.

While The Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Jakara Jackson, Lash Legend & Ora Mensah) were being interviewed, Jakara and Lash mentioned the current Undisputed Women’s Tag Team Champions Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler. Rousey and Baszler have a title defense scheduled for Money in the Bank

The final segment of the show featured Bron Breakker in Shawn Michaels’ office saying no one can control him. Breakker then left the office and told cameras that people will find out what happened next week.

Nathan Frazer was able to hold onto the Heritage Cup by besting Dragon Lee 2-1.

Scheduled for the 7/4 NXT is Roxanne Perez versus Blair Davenport in addition to Mustafa Ali versus Tyler Bate.

Kelani Jordan, who wrestles on NXT Level Up and at house shows, approached Dana Brooke while she was getting checked out by the medical staff. Dana stated that when she’s all good to go, she’d like to get in the ring with Kelani.
