Despite a big drop from last week’s big episode, NXT ranked second among cable originals again.
The June 27 ‘Gold Rush’ edition of the show averaged 622,000 viewers and 220,000 (0.17) in the 18-49 demographic, per Showbuzz Daily and Wrestlenomics.
While viewership fell by 20% and the demo audience saw a large decline of 28%, NXT was #2 among cable originals and equaling last week for the show’s highest ranking ever on the USA Network. The show was neck-and-neck with Love & Hip Hop Atlanta which also did a 0.17 in the demo and averaged 432,000 viewers on MTV.
NXT was first among all cable programs with adults 18-34 and males 12-17. It ranked third with males 18-49 behind the Midnight edition of SportsCenter and PTI on ESPN.
In the 18-49 demo, males dropped 19% while females fell 32%. In 18-34, women were down by 42% and men down by 15%. In 35-49, males decreased by 42% but females only dropped by 2%.
The 50+ demo fell from 0.37 last week to 0.31.
In Canada, NXT averaged 41,800 viewers and 23,500 in the 25-54 demographic on Sportsnet 360, which represented declines of 36% and 18% respectively from last week. NXT ranked eighth among sports programs for the night in Canada and fifth in the demo, which was led by the Toronto Blue Jays vs. San Francisco Giants.
Dark Side of the Ring continued its trend of growing its overall audience each week this season.
Tuesday’s episode on the Junkyard Dog (Sylvester Ritter) averaged 229,000 viewers and 79,000 (0.06) in the 18-49 demographic on Vice TV and ranked #75 among cable originals.
It was the show’s largest audience of season four and was up by 14% from last week’s episode on Doink the Clown / Matt Borne. However, it fell by 19% in the demo from last week.
This was a show that had a definitive split between the male and female audiences compared with last week.
In the 18-49 demo, males dropped by 39% while females increased by 29%. In 18-34, males fell by 33% while women were even with the episode on Borne. In 25-49, males saw a 39% fall and females increased by 36%.
There is no episode of Dark Side of the Ring next week with the series resuming on July 11 with ‘The Tragic Fall of Adrian Adonis’ followed by episodes on Bash at the Beach 2000, Abdullah the Butcher, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Marty Jannetty.
The Ultimate Fighter returned to normal after spiking last week. This week’s episode averaged 251,000 viewers and 0.08 in the 18-49 demo on ESPN, which was down 46% in viewers and 39% in the demo from last week’s season high. TUF ranked #38 among cable originals on Tuesday.
