Demand Lucha returned to Toronto on Thursday night with the show featuring a scary moment in the opening match.
During the opening tag match between Los Medicos (Medico One & Medico Two) and Level-X, one of the Medicos took a German suplex off the second turnbuckle and lay motionless in the ring for several minutes.
The match was called off and announced as a “no contest” while the performer was checked on. Eventually, he got to his feet and was able to exit on his own as the audience applauded and chanted for him.
The card was hit by several performers being unable to appear due to the AEW & ROH tapings in nearby Hamilton.
Demand Lucha Champion Gringo Loco, and Brian Cage were both part of the Ring of Honor tapings that took place on the same night and did not make it for their scheduled matches at Demand Lucha.
The main event was changed from a four-way to a three-way match with Jack Cartwheel defeating Speedball Mike Bailey and El Hijo del Vikingo in a tremendous showcase that was nonstop action and had the crowd engaged from start to finish. Cartwheel won the match by pinning Bailey and setting himself up for a future title shot against Gringo Loco.
Cage was scheduled to face Sam Adonis with the match switched to Adonis taking on Toxin. They had a lengthy match including plenty of near-falls and included a Canadian Destroyer off the top turnbuckle by Adonis, who won the match.
Parkdale Hall, which is the regular location for the group, was completely packed with tons of audience members having to stand with all the seats filled. Location-wise, it is a great spot for the company, but they are outgrowing the size of the building.
Next month, they will be running a show at Lee’s Palace on July 23 in Toronto and return to Parkdale Hall on August 24 for a card promoted as Demand Lucha vs. House of Glory with Alex Shelley among the talent listed for the August event.
