AEW Collision stays steady, Battle of the Belts VII rises

AEW Collision kept steady with its fifth episode while Battle of the Belts did one of the series’ strongest numbers.

The three-hour block from this past Saturday saw AEW Collision average 579,000 viewers and 258,000 (0.20) in the 18-49 demographic followed by Battle of the Belts VII doing 524,000 viewers and 196,000 (0.15) in the demo from 11 p.m. ET until Midnight on TNT. (Brandon Thurston at Wrestlenomics)

Collision was nearly identical in viewership from the week prior while the 18-49 audience dropped by 8% including females dropping by 18% from the previous week while males were a minor drop.

Collision’s audience in the 18-34 declined by 24% this week while adults 35-49 grew by 8% with males up by that same percentage and females declining by 10% in the demo.

Saturday’s live episode from Calgary included the finals of the Owen Hart Cup tournaments with Ricky Starks over CM Punk and Willow Nightingale over Ruby Soho with the first hour featuring a 58-minute match between FTR and Jay White & Juice Robinson in a two-of-three falls match.

After five episodes, Collision is averaging 604,000 viewers (552,000 if you exclude the first episode) and 283,000 (245,000 without the first episode) in the 18-49 demo.

Battle of the Belts VII aired immediately after Collision and registered the series’ third-largest viewership behind the first two episodes in January & April 2022.

The previous three editions of Battle of the Belts aired on Friday nights following AEW Rampage with this show moved to Saturday night.

Battle of the Belts VII saw its viewership increase by 26% with a 7% bump in the demo from the last special that aired on Friday, April 7, and included The Lucha Bros. against Powerhouse Hobbs & QT Marshall.

This past week’s special was headlined by Luchasaurus defending the TNT Championship against Shawn Spears and included Toni Storm vs. Taya Valkyrie and Orange Cassidy vs. Lance Archer.

The transmission of Saturday’s show was briefly lost due to a storm in Calgary which prevented live viewers from seeing the ending of the women’s match, which was replayed later in the show.

In Canada, the AEW blocked aired late on Saturday night following the UFC Fight Night card with Collision airing at 1 a.m. followed by Battle of the Belts at 3 a.m. on TSN 2.

Collision averaged approximately 38,500 viewers (22,000 in the first hour and 55,000 in the second hour – which is an incredible amount at 2 a.m. ET) and 26,000 in the 25-54 demographic (12,000 in the first hour and 40,000 in the second hour).

Battle of the Belts at 3 a.m. ET in Canada averaged approximately 21,000 viewers and 9,000 in the 25-54 demo.
