Gable Steveson’s first televised pro wrestling match ended in a double count-out and a brawl with his opponent Baron Corbin.

The match was added to the NXT Great American Bash card after Corbin interrupted Steveson when he was revealing his future plans during this past week’s episode of NXT.

The crowd were initially not impressed with the finish, with audible “bullshit” chants ringing around the arena, before they picked up when a lengthy brawl ensued.

The crowd also seemed to have divided loyalties, with a sizeable number cheering on Corbin.

The program between the two seems certain to continue after the lengthy post-match fight.

Steveson signed with WWE in September 2021. In his college wrestling career at the University of Minnesota, he won two NCAA championships.

The 23-year-old was a 2020 Olympic gold medalist in the freestyle wrestling heavyweight division.
