WWE NXT notes: Santos Escobar teams with Tony D & Stacks, Trick Williams-Carmelo Hayes, video message from Creeds

Closing out the 8/1 NXT was a six-man tag that saw Gallus (Mark Coffey, Wolfgang & Joe Coffey) take on NXT Tag Team Champions The Family (Tony D’Angelo & Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo). D’Angelo and Stacks called in a favor from their old foe, SmackDown’s Santos Escobar. They teamed up in the main event and secured the win.

Trick Williams sat down with NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes. Williams expressed that it’s time for him to be his own man. He knows Hayes doesn’t view him as a sidekick, but that’s the perception that exists. Williams and Hayes agreed that they are not splitting, but Williams is going to carve his own path. In a video package that aired, Ilja Dragunov stressed that he is coming after Williams for what he feels cost him the NXT Title match at Great American Bash

In Thea Hail’s Submission match for the NXT Women’s Championship at Great American Bash, Andre Chase threw in the towel. Chase had a match on 8/1 and he fell in defeat to Baron Corbin. During the bout, Thea threw in the towel but the referee did not see it. She walked away after attempting to get the match stopped.

The following matches are official for the 8/8 NXT:

  • NXT North American Championship: Dominik Mysterio (c) (w/ Rhea Ripley) vs. Dragon Lee (w/ Rey Mysterio)
  • Bron Breakker vs. Von Wagner (w/ Robert Stone)
  • Tyler Bate vs. Noam Dar (w/ Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson & Oro Mensah)
  • Mustafa Ali vs. Axiom

The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid & Ava) had followers of the group unmask themselves as they suspected The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) were disguised as followers. Ikemen Jiro was one of the individuals unmasked. A video from The Creeds aired and they stressed that they were not in the vicinity. Joe Gacy demanded that The Creeds be brought to The Schism. Due to Julius and Brutus losing to Reid and Fowler, they had to leave NXT.
