Tony Khan reassures the public that Jade Cargill is still with AEW.
At AEW Double or Nothing 2023, Jade Cargill’s reign and undefeated streak as TBS Champion came to an end. She scored a win over Taya Valkyrie and then post-match, the returning Kris Statlander challenged her to an impromptu bout and got the win.
Cargill has not been present on AEW programming since the loss and when asked on Twitter if she’ll be coming back soon, she replied, ‘No’.
AEW President Tony Khan was interviewed by PWInsider’s Mike Johnson and Khan said Cargill is still with the company and while he can’t say what anyone is doing in the future, the company values Cargill and what she’s done for them.
Well, Jade’s still with us, and Jade has been on sabbatical since her upset, I believe title loss after her unbelievable undefeated run. And Kris Statlander now is the TBS Champion, and she’s made some great defenses of the title, but Jade is still with us. And I can’t say for certain what anybody’s going to do in the future, but certainly we value Jade and everything she’s done here.
Cargill has a total of 26 defenses of the TBS Championship. Statlander’s sixth defense is taking place on the 8/5 AEW Collision against Mercedes Martinez.
