** On night two of WWE WrestleMania 39, Edge went one-on-one with ‘The Demon’ Finn Bálor inside Hell in a Cell. During their bout, Balor suffered a cut on his head that caused the match to pause. Bálor appeared on Busted Open Radio and explained why the pause in action took longer than usual.

To start, the cage door had to get opened because it was locked shut. The doctor got in, saw the cut and immediately said it looked bad. She had to staple it, so she left the cage and went over to the timekeeper’s area to get the staple gun. She came back but realized there were no staples in the gun so she had to go back and then return to the cage. While she was stapling Bálor, she shot one into her finger on accident. Finn attempted to stay in character as ‘The Demon’ while this was happening. He received 14 more staples after the match.

My brain was going 100 miles an hour as how we can rectify this situation, alright? (Balor said about the Hell in a Cell match pausing at WrestleMania)

I’m having a conversation with the referee saying, ‘No, I’m fine. It’s WrestleMania, I’m fine, I’m not concussed, I’m fine’ and he’s saying, ‘Ferg, you got a gusher. They’re gonna stop the match. This isn’t my call. They’re on their radios, they’re gonna stop the match. You gotta talk to the doctor.’ So, that was a whole other story but, with what happened with the doctor, I don’t know if you wanna go into right now. Okay, so, I crawl over to the edge of the cage. This is what happened, talk about hitting the pause button. It was a pause button for you guys (watching). So I crawl over to the edge of the cage, the doctor’s trying to get into the cage. You gotta remember, they gotta open the cage so it’s not an easy feat, right? So referee Eddie (Orengo’s) opening up the cage, the doc comes in, she goes, ‘Oouu, that’s a bad one,’ which is not what I want the doctor say, right? So then she goes, ‘I’m gonna have to staple it.’ I said, ‘Fine.’ So then she has to go out of the cage, come back around to where the time keeper is just to get the medical bag. Then she comes back into the cage but then, she realizes that there’s no staples in the staple gun so then she has to go back out to get the staples, load it back up but then come back into the cage. She’s saying, ‘You ready for the staples?’ I said, ‘Yeah, just put them in. Let me go back to work.’ So she goes, ‘Okay, this might hurt.’ One. I said, ‘Oh, that’s fine.’ Two, three. Then she goes, ‘Ah!’ ‘What happened?’ She goes, ‘I put it in my finger.’ I said, ‘Can I get back to work now?’ And she goes, ‘Yeah. You should be fine’ and we went back to business.

I didn’t feel ‘em, no, and after the match, we put 14 in there and only one hurt and they said, ‘Hey, do you want to get numbed up and stuff?’ But, I was kind of in a rush just to get out of there. I just didn’t wanna be there anymore. It’d been a long day. They said, ‘It’ll take 15 minutes for the numbing medicine to take action.’ I said, ‘Nah, just put them in’ and only one, I swear only one kind of pinched. it was right down near the forehead.

I don’t know if the camera mics picked it up or if they’ll release it on documentary later, but, I tried to stay in character as The Demon. So I’m grabbing the doc saying, ‘Staple it!’ And the medical assistant is like scared. She’s like, what the hell is wrong with this guy? So I’m sure we can talk to the TV guys, maybe we could get us a clip of that.

** There was a panel at Terrificon 2023 (via Fandom Spotlite) that featured Wardlow, Ethan Page and Danhausen. Page said he and Scorpio Sky have unfinished business as Men of the Year and whenever Sky is ready to reunite, he’ll be game.

Page: I loved working with all those guys (as a part of Men of the Year). I thought we had great chemistry and anytime Scorp wants to get back together, I’m game.

I would say that myself and Scorpio Sky definitely have some unfinished business and I would love to finish that up.

Elsewhere during the discussion, Danhausen expressed that he thought his pairing with HOOK, HOOKHausen, had more gas in the tank.

Danhausen: I think HOOKHausen had some more gas in the tank. I hear about it every single day so…

** Guest appearing on episode #104 of the Café De René livestream was Primo Colón. He was asked to recall who could be a pain to work with in the ring and he named Great Khali. Primo said they eventually reached a gentleman’s agreement to figure out what works for them when working with each other.

Pain in the ass? At the beginning was Great Khali. Yeah, because he was all about himself and I get it. I guess when you’re seven foot, but then at the end, I started to make it entertaining for me. If I don’t like something, I find ways to entertain myself. So if he hated something, I’d do that sh*t on purpose just to pop myself (Primo laughed). But, I’d make sure everything else, I made him look good in the sense of getting up for all of his backbreaking stuff. But yeah, he was kind of a pain in the ass at the beginning. Then he knew it was easy working me. He was like, ‘Oh brother, brother.’ So it was easy working him afterwards. We had a gentleman’s agreement as far as, ‘Okay, you’ll do this sh*t but take care of me on this end at least,’ you know what I mean? Don’t freaking break my neck. I don’t wanna land head-first… So I was apprehensive to do anything where he had me up in his hands, or over his head. I was like, ‘Ah, maybe we don’t do this today.’ But he was alright, he was alright.

At WrestleMania 25, Primo and Carlito defeated The Miz and John Morrison on the pre-show to unify the company’s Tag Team Championships. Primo felt it was a slap in the face to tag team wrestling by having a title unification match on the pre-show. He shared that multiple top names at the time were impressed with the match.

I was a little annoyed because they put us on the pre-show (Primo said about the WWE Tag Title unification match at WrestleMania 25). So, we went out there with the mission of, you know what? We’re gonna prove you guys — and we had one of the better matches. We didn’t have the best match of the night. I’m not gonna say that but, we had a pay-per-view worthy match. It should have been on the main card. So that was our mission. I said, ‘We’re gonna go out there. They’re gonna give us the pre-show, we’re gonna pre-show the sh*t out of it’ and that’s what we did. I remember getting back and a lot of top guys, I’m not gonna mention any names, they were like, ‘Hell of a match.’ I said, ‘Alright.’ I almost wanted to say, hey, you know what? Next time, you might wanna put that on the pay-per-view but, it is what it is. Because I thought it was a big deal. It wasn’t about me. It was the fact that they’re putting these two titles that have never been merged, there’s a big deal out of that. Put it on the pre-show was kind of slap in the face to tag team wrestling, as a whole.

** Dave LaGreca and Sam Roberts welcomed Shayna Baszler onto Busted Open Radio. She shared that fellow WWE Raw talent Tommaso Ciampa is almost like a mentor to her. Baszler goes to Ciampa for advice in general and especially for promo work.

The very first match I ever saw at PWG was Tommaso Ciampa versus Biff Busick and I remember being like, ‘This is the best match I’ve ever seen in my whole entire life’ and now it’s like I get to see that all the time and now Ciampa’s almost like a mentor of mine now. I go to him a lot for advice and especially promo work, I go to him a lot and it’s just, I don’t know. There are moments where I’m like, man, this is wild, life is wild.
