Cody Rhodes has emerged victorious from what WWE has billed as the “end of the saga” with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

Rhodes won the third match between the pair after they went into Saturday’s PLE tied at one win each after Backlash and Night of Champions.

Lesnar dominated most of the match with a series of German suplexes, throwing Rhodes around and out of the ring.

Brock looked to be going for a count-out win after delivering an F5 on the floor, but Rhodes made it back into the ring at nine. A furious Lesnar then hit another F5 to Rhodes, this time into the announce table. Again, Rhodes just about made it back to the ring.

Rhodes rallied with a Disaster Kick and a couple of Cody Cutters, but only for a two-count. Just before this, a turnbuckle was accidentally exposed.

This would come into play as Lesnar was shoved into the corner and then placed in a Kimura lock by Rhodes. Lesnar survived but then took the Cross Rhodes three times in a row for the pinfall win.

In a rare move, Lesnar hugged Rhodes, embraced him and raised his arm after the match.
