WWE Raw notes: Nakamura lays out Rollins, Chad Gable earns IC Title match, LA Knight/Miz face-off, JD McDonagh

Kicking off Monday Night Raw was Cody Rhodes. Fresh off of his win over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Rhodes was joined in the ring by WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Rollins stated that he wanted to put Cody to the test after Rhodes expressed that he feels like he can beat anyone. They were interrupted by Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio & Rhea Ripley). Finn Bálor made a run-in and ambushed Rollins and Rhodes.

This led to Sami Zayn making the save. Later in the show, J.D. McDonagh took out Zayn which led to him being pulled from the main event. Filling in for Zayn was Shinsuke Nakamura who teamed with Rhodes and Rollins to defeat Priest, Bálor and Dominik. Post-match, Nakamura laid out the World Heavyweight Champion.

Chad Gable secured a shot at GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship. He won a Fatal 4-Way involving Matt Riddle, Tommaso Ciampa and Ricochet. The 8/7 Raw was in Gable’s home-state of Minnesota.

Fellow member of Alpha Academy, Otis, was in action against Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser. Otis is from Minnesota as well. This match came about because Kaiser insulted Otis in front of Maxxine Dupri and she slapped him for his comments. Kaiser got the win over Otis with an assist from Giovanni Vinci and GUNTHER.

There was a segment with Finn Bálor and Mr. Money in the Bank Damian Priest discussing their miscommunication at SummerSlam. J.D. McDonagh had been talking to Finn before Priest came into camera’s view. McDonagh chimed in and said the briefcase is coming in-between Bálor and Priest and maybe Priest should get rid of it.

There was a face-off between L.A. Knight and The Miz that resulted in the two talents brawling. Knight got the upper hand on Miz.
