AEW Dynamite ranks first on cable for the night, small decrease from previous week

On Wednesday, AEW Dynamite ranked first on cable despite the small loss of viewership from last week.

The August 9 episode from Columbus averaged 846,000 viewers and 378,000 (0.29) in the 18-49 demographic, which were declines of 5% and 7% respectively from last week. (Data: Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics & Spoiler TV)

It was Dynamite’s lowest audience since July 12 and its lowest 18-489 audience since June 28.

In the 18-49 demo, female viewership fell by 7% to 131,000 viewers while men were up by 1% to 267,000.

Adults 18-34 had a small increase of 4% to 144,000.

Adults 35-49 were down by 14% to 229,000 and their lowest in two weeks.

In Canada, Dynamite averaged 96,400 viewers and 56,800 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2, which were increases of 19% and 8% respectively from last week. Dynamite beat last Friday’s episode of SmackDown in the 25-54 demo with SmackDown drawing 43,000 in the demo.

Dynamite was headlined by Hikaru Shida defending the Women’s Championship against Anna Jay and opened with the JAS Mandatory Meeting followed by The Hardys taking on The Young Bucks.

According to Wrestlenomics, the peak segment was from 9:00 – 9:15 p.m. ET with the in-ring segment involving MJF, Adam Cole and an interruption by Roderick Strong that averaged 889,000 viewers and 425,000 in the demo.
