WWE NXT notes: Carmelo vs. Wes, Corbin says he ran Gable Steveson off, Rhea & Dominik competing at Heatwave

Wes Lee picked up a win over Dijak to secure an NXT Championship match at Heatwave on 8/22. Lee versus the champion Carmelo Hayes is official. 

There was an in-ring segment with Baron Corbin. He stated that he ran Olympic Gold medalist Gable Steveson out of NXT and he is not coming back. Corbin talked down on the locker room and it led to Von Wagner coming out to set up their match at Heatwave. Later in the show, Bron Breakker approached Corbin and told him he’s not done with Wagner and Corbin reminded him that Wagner put him through a table on the August 8th show

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley are teaming up at Heatwave to face Lyra Valkyria and Dragon Lee. 

The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid & Ava) have been on the search for The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed), who lost a Loser Leaves NXT match to Jagger and Fowler. While The Dyad was challenging Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo for the NXT Tag Team Titles, Ivy Nile appeared and distracted The Schism. On the other side of the ring, two masked individuals took out Fowler and Reid and cost them the match. 

Nathan Frazer is putting his Heritage Cup trophy on the line against Noam Dar at Heatwave. 

Chase University’s Thea Hail had a singles match against Jacy Jayne. Andre Chase was on the ring apron in an attempt to help her, but he distracted Hail and it led to her losing the bout. 

Dabba-Kato made his return to NXT TV and he stopped the match between Tyler Bate and Joe Coffey.
