Updated: Cash Wheeler arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a firearm

AEW’s Cash Wheeler, real name Daniel Wheeler, was arrested Friday morning and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Jay Reddick of the Orlando Sentinel reported the news.

The 36-year-old was arrested by the Orlando Police Department and booked at Orange County Court.

The Orange County Department of Corrections website notes his bond amount as $2,500 and his status as “Presentenced.”

According to PWInsider, the arrest relates to an incident that occurred several weeks ago. A warrant for Wheeler’s arrest was issued on July 28th. He reportedly filed a plea of not guilty to the charge via his lawyer on August 3rd.

The Orange County Clerk of Courts website tallies with this timeline. The site states that the date of the alleged offense was July 27th 2023, and notes that Wheeler waived a pretrial appearance. The site lists a court hearing for 1 pm ET on Friday, August 18th. 

No further details of the alleged offense were immediately available.

The alleged offense is a third-degree felony in Florida.

All Elite Wrestling supplied the following statement to the Orlando Sentinel:

AEW has been made aware of the charge, and we are closely monitoring the situation. He is fully cooperating with local authorities.

Wheeler is one-half of the current AEW Tag Team Champions, FTR, and is scheduled for a tag match with the Young Bucks at Wembley Stadium, London, on Sunday, August 27th.
