Bayley takes a look back at her run since coming back in 2022.
It was at the 2022 WWE SummerSlam Premium Live Event that the trio now known as Damage CTRL was formed. Bayley, IYO SKY and Dakota Kai have been constants on WWE programming since their arrival as a trio. At this year SummerSlam event, Damage CTRL celebrated in the ring as IYO became the new WWE Women’s Champion.
A piece on Bayley’s comeback was written by Chris Novak of The Comeback. She spoke with the outlet and during their chat, she said coming out the tribute show for the late Windham Rotunda a.k.a. Bray Wyatt, she’s been thinking about what she wants her legacy to be.
She feels she needs to figure that out. Bayley went on to state that she wants IYO to have the best title reign of all-time, adding that Dakota Kai should get a shot. Bayley then threw out the idea of a Damage CTRL Triple Threat for the title at WrestleMania.
I really have been trying to reflect on what I want personally out of what I want my legacy to be. After the Bray Wyatt tribute show, I felt I really needed to figure it out. I’m working on my legacy every day and every single week. Sometimes, you get lost in the shuffle or the travel and the busy schedule, that at least me personally, I kind of lose sight of what the bigger picture is. And what I’m trying to do.
I wanna make sure that I’m cementing my legacy, and that goes for Damage CTRL too. IYO, I want her to have the best title run of all-time. Dakota should get a title shot. All of us end up at WrestleMania in a Triple Threat for the title as best friends? I’m fine with that too. Let’s put that in the universe (she laughed). I just want to continue to cement a legacy and be able to still inspire the fans and have a connection that I’ve had since day one. And watch us all grow every day.
Elsewhere in the write-up, Bayley expressed that she wants to have a singles match at a WrestleMania. She’s never had a singles bout at the event in the six times she’s been featured on it.
This business moves so fast, it’s like, onto the next thing. I think this is something I’ve heard from John Cena, or maybe he got it from somewhere else, ‘You’re only as good as your last match.’ To me, with our wrestling fans’ minds, we have short-term memories. So when I do these things, I reflect a little; now I have a live event this big. ‘Ah, damn…’ or, you get to a TV, and things change, and the story changes, and you feel like crap.
So you move back up and down. A rollercoaster of emotions of things. Being proud of things. In the moment, I still feel like, right at this moment, on this day, I feel really hungry to do more. Last night, I thought about, I haven’t had a singles match on a pay-per-view in a while, and I want a singles match at WrestleMania, and so many things I want.
Dakota Kai is not cleared to compete after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL. She is with IYO and Bayley on WWE TV but is out of the picture when it comes to physical segments.
