The only reason Alexander considered surgery was because of his family.
At the conclusion of IMPACT Wrestling’s 2023 Slammiversary pay-per-view, Josh Alexander returned and stood face-to-face with current IMPACT World Champion Alex Shelley. Earlier this year, Alexander had to relinquish the title after suffering torn triceps.
He is back in the swing of things at IMPACT and coming up, he’ll be taking on Steve Maclin at Victory Road.
Straight Talk Wrestling pushed out an interview with Alexander and he expressed that he probably could have returned from injury quicker if he did not undergo surgery. Alexander explained that because of his sons, he did not want a left arm that was compromised.
The mental part is the hardest part (Alexander said about relinquishing the IMPACT World Title). Physical pain, if anybody’s watched me wrestle over the last near 18 years I’ve been in this business, pain doesn’t really stop me that much, and only for the sake of me having my son Jett, my son Lucas there, did I even consider surgery this time to fix this injury because it’s something I probably could have rehabbed and worked through and come back a little bit faster but I didn’t wanna have a left arm that was compromised moving forward in my life with my children and all this other stuff…
After Victory Road, IMPACT is going to celebrate 1,000 episodes of their television program. The event is scheduled for September 9th in White Plains, New York. It was most recently confirmed that Gail Kim and Kia Stevens (Awesome Kong) will be coming out of retirement for the special.
