Skye recounts meeting Mercedes Moné at Wembley.
AEW events this past week emanated from Hoffman Estates and Chicago, Illinois leading into the All Out pay-per-view. The Chicago-billed Skye Blue was in action on the most recent edition of Rampage and on the All Out Zero Hour pre-show.
Skye joined Good Karma Wrestling to discuss competing in front of her hometown crowd and her run in AEW thus far. She shared that she’d like to do a hardcore, Anarchy in the Arena or Stadium Stampede match.
I would absolutely love to do a women’s hardcore match or a women’s Anarchy in the Arena or Stampede, Stadium Stampede match. I would love to be in one of those. The doctors always tell me, they’re like, ‘No Skye. We’re not letting you near sharp objects’ but, I would absolutely love those matches because I’m ridiculous sometimes but, I think to just keep doing things that people don’t expect us to do and to just keep pushing our way and just keep showing them, hey, we’re here. We’re ready. We’ve all dreamed of doing this. You don’t just wake up one day and think, oh! I want to be a wrestler. No, it’s a dream and it’s something that you continuously have to keep working for so I think we’re just all like, hey, this is our dream and this is collectively our dream and we’re just gonna push each other to get to where we all want to be so then we’re all successful.
Stadium Stampede was on the bill for All In at Wembley Stadium. In attendance for the event was former IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné. Skye was in London, England for All In and met Mercedes and described it as a really cool experience. Skye added that she’d love to wrestle her.
I would also love to wrestle Mercedes Moné. Meeting her at Wembley was really, really cool. Watching her matches growing up and just thinking one day that I could wrestle her and actually seeing Willow (Nightingale) wrestle her for the New Japan STRONG Women’s Title was amazing. I was so proud of Willow, so happy for Willow. Wish I could have been there for that match. Kyle (Fletcher) was actually there and he was super proud. He watched from the crowd so, yeah.
The 23-year-old Skye Blue received her official All Elite graphic in April. She had been working with the company since April 2021.
