Mysterio makes sure that he does not face Dragon Lee.
There was a number one contender’s match featuring Dragon Lee and Mustafa Ali on the 9/5 NXT on USA Network. The winner would earn a shot at Dominik Mysterio’s North American Championship.
Mysterio was the special guest referee and he prevented Dragon Lee from getting the win. He then went on to fast-count Lee. Ali got the win and is getting the title shot at No Mercy on September 30th.
When Ali saw the replay, he knocked Mysterio down on the mat.

On 8/8, with assistance from WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley, Mysterio defeated Dragon Lee to retain the North American Title.
At Heatwave, Lee and Lyra Valkyria defeated Mysterio and Ripley in a mixed tag match.
