Velvet Sky would like to continue doing commentary, adds that she’s satisfied with her time in wrestling

Sky also touches on her departure from NWA.

For the last several years of Velvet Sky’s career, she was a color commentator for the National Wrestling Alliance alongside Joe Galli and Tim Storm. Velvet took to her social media platforms on September 8th to announce that she is no longer with NWA.

She spoke about her departure and more while on Busted Open Radio. The two-time TNA Women’s Knockouts Champion stated that she had a blast doing commentary. As far as her future goes, she prefers for that to be outside of the ring but if that does not turn out how she envisions, she’s satisfied with what she’s accomplished in wrestling.

Sky credited Galli and Storm for taking her under their wing in NWA and added that she has no bad reviews about her time with the organization.

I honestly had a blast at the NWA in the commentary role. I like to try to be versatile in this industry. Not just be known as Velvet Sky the wrestler. It’s like when you put your whole youth into something and then that part of your life comes to an end. I’ve been in the industry since I was 20 years old. 22 years later, I’m still a part of it even though I’m not active in the ring and I would like it to stay that way as far as being involved in the industry in some role and if I’m not, again, then I’m totally fine because I’m totally at peace and I’m totally happy and satisfied with what I have done in the wrestling industry as far as, you know, being in IMPACT and my time in NWA as a commentator which I really did enjoy and Joe (Galli) and Tim (Storm), they took me under their wing and I learned a lot from them. They showed me the ropes of commentary and I still have a lot to learn obviously. I feel like I was just getting my toes wet in commentary with the NWA. But you know, good things have to come to an end. I have nothing bad to say about the company, my time there. That locker room as well is a breath of fresh air. I wouldn’t mind trying commentary out again somewhere, somehow and if it happens, great and if it (doesn’t), like I said, I’m more than satisfied with my time in wrestling and what I’ve done in wrestling even though wrestling, it’s in my blood, in my heart and in my soul. So of course I would always want to be a part of this industry in some way, shape or form. So you never know. Never say never. But yes, I would honestly like to try out commentary somewhere or just being involved in wrestling as a whole would be great and like I said, if it doesn’t happen, again, I’m cool, I’m good. I’m living life, I’m enjoying it. I’m good.

Sky is going to be featured on an upcoming edition of IMPACT 1000 on AXS. She accompanied Angelina Love to the ring for a 10-woman tag. The content from that taping will air over the next two weeks.
