WWE NXT notes: Lynch vs. Stratton in Extreme Rules match, Global Heritage final, Mustafa Ali

Main eventing the 9/19 NXT was a tag match that saw NXT Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria defeat Tiffany Stratton and Kiana James. Initially, Lynch wanted to face Stratton and James by herself, but Lyra came to her aid. After the match, Stratton took out both Lynch and Valkyria with a chair. Once Lynch regained her wits, she stated that the title match with Stratton at No Mercy will be contested under Extreme Rules.

Butch defeated Tyler Bate in group A to advance to the finals of the Global Heritage Invitational. In group B, Duke Hudson bested Joe Coffey which caused a three-way tie between Hudson, Coffey and Nathan Frazer. The three talents competed in a Triple-Threat and Coffey came out victorious. He is now set to face Butch in the finals of the tournament and the winner will move on to No Mercy to challenge Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and North American Champion Dominik Mysterio went one-on-one. As the bout was underway, both talents collided with Ilja Dragunov who was on commentary. Carmelo’s run-in was on accident, but Mysterio slapped Dragunov across the face. Ilja then charged the ring and accidentally took out Hayes while going after Dominik.

As Mysterio was leaving the ringside area, he was laid out by Dragon Lee, who is getting a North American Title match on the 9/25 Monday Night Raw. Mustafa Ali previously expressed to Lee that he’d give him a title shot after No Mercy if he beats Dominik. Ali was frustrated that Lee is getting the shot before him, so he teased the idea of showing up on Raw.

There were a multitude of announcements for the 9/26 NXT and those are listed as follows:
