A look back at two of Brandi Rhodes’ AEW promo segments.

A talking point during D.S. Shin of Ring The Belle’s sit-down conversation with Brandi Rhodes became her promos in AEW that circulated on social media.

The first to be brought up was Brandi’s segment with Jade Cargill when Cargill first arrived to the company. Brandi shared that the inspiration for the tone she used was an idea from AEW President Tony Khan. She stated that Khan suggested that Rhodes take a similar approach to a scene from Curb Your Enthusiasm featuring Vivica A. Fox.

It’s a very fun segment (open mic night with Jade Cargill) for the simple fact that there was not much thought that went into it. It was literally just, Tony (Khan) asked me, ‘Can you cut a promo on Jade?’ I said, ‘Sure. Why not? That’s fun’ and he said, ‘Have you seen seen the Curb Your Enthusiasm where Vivica Fox runs up on the neighbor lady?’ What’s her name? But it’s the neighbor character in Curb Your Enthusiasm that’s always coming after Larry and she’s always cursing him out and all this stuff and she’s like, ‘Larry!’ Blah, blah, blah, blah and then Vivica steps in front and goes, ‘Who the hell are you? You’re not gonna talk to my man like that’ and just runs her down and saying all this stuff so, he says, ‘You know that scene?’ I said, ‘Yeah, of course.’ He goes, ‘Can you do something like that?’ I was like, ‘I got it’ and that was pretty much it. Yeah, that was pretty much it. It was just like, alright. Well now what am I gonna say? Okay, okay. So yeah, talked to Jade and I said, ‘I’m gonna say heifer. Is that okay?’ And she was like, ‘Heifer?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, it works. You’re not a heifer. So it works. You’re like the furthest thing from a heifer so like, just let me say it.’ ‘Okay,’ and then it was what it was.

While Rhodes was having her on-screen back and forth with American Top Team’s Dan Lambert, there was a segment when Lambert mentioned that he’s a black belt, to which Rhodes responded that she’s a ‘Black b*tch’ and they should brawl.

Brandi stated that she had fun working with Lambert. She does not know whose idea it was for that segment to take place.

Again, there was a pandemic era, things were happening (Rhodes responded to the ‘Black belt, Black b*tch’ promo being brought up). I’ll tell you what, I have never had as much fun as I did kind of sparring with Dan Lambert because you never knew what was gonna come out of his mouth which then made crazy things come out of my mouth and then it was just craziness and I love seeing that segment where we start trying to fight each other because that’s insane. What on earth? And who put this together? I don’t even know whose idea — I don’t know, I’m not gonna say. I just know that one day I was told, ‘You’re gonna do this promo with Dan Lambert’ and I was like, ‘Why?’

Elsewhere in the conversation, Rhodes addressed the untrue reasons for her and Cody Rhodes’ departures from AEW. To read her comments, head over to this link
