Despite a huge college football game airing head-to-head, AEW Collision scored its largest audience in nearly two months.

The September 23 episode of Collision from Grand Rapids averaged 562,000 viewers and 235,000 (0.18) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics.

The numbers reflected a 20% increase in overall viewership and an 18% bump in the 18-49 audience from last week’s episode – Collision’s largest since July 29.

This show aired against the Ohio St. vs. Notre Dame game with 9,980,000 viewers on NBC as well as Texas vs. Baylor which averaged 2,628,000 viewers on ABC and games on ESPN and CBS that did 2.44 and 2.75 million viewers respectively.

In the 18-49, Collision saw a 43% increase among male viewers this week from 122,000 to 174,000 while females declined from 77,000 to 61,000.

After last week’s poor showing with males 18-34, this week it was way up going from 15,000 to 72,000 and the highest among that demo since July 29. Overall, adults 18-34 grew from 35,000 to 84,000 due to the male increase.

Adults 35-49 were down by 9% at 150,000 this week with declines among males and females from the previous week.

Wrestlenomics noted that the peak quarter was from 8:45 to 9 p.m. ET for the ending of Julia Hart vs. Kiera Hogan, a Righteous vignette, and the start of Jay White vs. Andrade El Idolo with 621,000 viewers and 276,000 in the demo, which grew 19% and 23% respectively from the prior quarter.

Collision was headlined by a Texas Death Match between Bryan Danielson and Ricky Starks in a rematch from All Out.

The following two Saturdays will see Collision air against WWE premium live events with NXT No Mercy on September 30 and WWE Fast Lane on October 7.
