Adam Cole undergoing surgery for broken ankle, MJF to defend ROH Tag Titles in Handicap match at AEW WrestleDream

Cole is out for the foreseeable future.

In the main event of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, MJF successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe. As the bout was ongoing, Adam Cole made his way to the ring to support MJF. When Cole jumped off the entrance stage onto the floor, he came up limping.

On the 9/27 Dynamite, ROH World Tag Team Champions MJF and Adam Cole appeared and Cole was on crutches and had a walking boot on. He revealed that he suffered a broken ankle at Dynamite Grand Slam. He broke his ankle in three places and he tore ligaments. Cole will be undergoing surgery.

He would go on to say that him and MJF will have to relinquish the ROH World Tag Team Titles but MJF stopped him. MJF said he is going to be at AEW WrestleDream on October 1st and is going to defend the ROH Tag Titles in a Handicap match against The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch).

Roderick Strong showed up on the entrance ramp in his wheelchair with Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. MJF stated that he respects that Cole is not hiding his friendship with Strong so he told him to go be with him. MJF added that he’ll be waiting for Cole when he gets back. Cole was scheduled to be in action on November 12th for the DEADLOCK Pro-Wrestling promotion and he was going to have Chris Danger’s first match. He is no longer making that date.

After Cole, Taven, Strong and Bennett exited the stage, Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White made his way to the ring and had a segment with MJF and stuck his claim to the AEW World Championship.
